A career in Financial Services seemed the best option for me. I love numbers and enjoy meeting people. Seeing my clients achieve their financial goals through a strategy of risk protection and investment for a secure future gives me real satisfaction.

I have a Degree in Economics and have completed my Certificate of Financial Services. I have been in the industry since 2003 and look forward to meeting the challenges and growth opportunities that lie ahead.

My wife, Maria and our four children are my family. I enjoy gardening, cooking, global politics and have an extensive collection of world banknotes.

Tim Stevenson

I joined the Financial Services industry in 2006 after a long career spent at sea. I now enjoy helping people attain their financial goals and protecting the things around them that are most precious, especially family, health and their income.

After completing a Business Diploma and having continued industry related study including becoming an Authorised Financial adviser. I am now studying for a Graduate Diploma in Risk Management.

I can help you with life and disability insurance, income protection, health insurance, UK Pension transfers, KiwiSaver and ACC advice for the self employed. When not working, I involve myself in community work, studying and family time. My wife Jacqui and I enjoy visiting our favourite fishing spots and locating new ones when we manage to get away for a break.

I enjoy my work immensely. It’s incredibly rewarding to look back on situations where my input has had a positive impact on others’ lives. From helping people enjoy their retirement, to providing income when they can't work, enabling loved ones to receive medical treatment promptly, and facilitating millions paid out for property damage; I get to see the difference it makes when the right financial planning and cover is in place.

My qualifications include a Graduate Diploma in Business Studies and an endorsement in Personal Financial Planning through Massey University. In 2010, I qualified as a Certified Financial Planner (CFPCM) with the Institute of Financial Advisers.

Away from work I love spending time with my wife and five children. I also enjoy church, friends, tennis and paintball.

What a privilege it is to be part of Ark Financial Group. I will be the West Coast contact for this company. My husband Simon and I have lived in Hokitika for the past 17 years. Being born and raised in Greymouth, it’s fair to say that we love it here and are passionate about bringing good care, service and knowledge to the West Coast.
 
Previously I have worked as a travel agent with House of Travel. Then moved to our Westland District Council in the accounts department. This also involved running an ANZ Bank agency and AA Driver Licencing and Motor Vehicle department. I then moved into the events department and helped run the Hokitika Wild Food Festival for 2 years. Great fun! And for the past 9 years I have been at home with my boys and have treasured this time.

We have 3 sons and love the journey and joy that parenting brings. They keep us well busy with all the sports and groups they are involved in! Being part of our community and serving here is also very important to us.

I love meeting new people and look forward to helping my clients build secure financial futures.

Whilst new to the insurance industry, I bring to the Advisory role, 30 years of being a school principal where I have gained an extensive range of transferable skills, not least of which is a passion for engaging with people.

I feel honoured to have been invited to join the wonderful team at the Ark Financial Group where the ethos of providing a personalised and quality service by a group of individuals who ensure the interests of the client comes first and built on a foundation of integrity, trust and professionalism are attributes that I strongly endorse.

Between my wife Kym and I we have six wonderful adult children. We live on a lifestyle block in North Canterbury where I can indulge my passion of gardening and rearing cattle. I serve on two community based charitable trusts. I look forward to meeting and working with future clients and building strong, supportive relationships.

 After working in the Trade (Glass and Glazing) and Transport Industry in Account Management and Customer Services roles for the past 13 years I am looking forward to making a change and joining my father (Tim Stevenson) and the rest of the team at Ark Financial Group.

Family, friends, pets, fitness, food and wine are things that I love and what occupies my spare time. In the weekends I love getting outdoors to see the beautiful scenery Christchurch has to offer as well as checking out one of the great new cafes or restaurants in the area. I look forward to learning and getting to know a new group of people in this industry, both clients and other advisers.

Ian Wallace

Registered Financial Adviser

I’m a people person, and helping people is what gets me up in the mornings. As an Insurance Advisor I help people structure their insurance to support their livelihood, their health, their family’s wellbeing, and their business success. Over the past 14 years it has been a privilege to assist many clients to access funds when they have made a claim due to an illness, accident, or worse.

My background prior to insurance included 30 years in the farming industry (beef, sheep and deer) on the West Coast and later in Canterbury. Farming and business have given me many life skills and an appreciation for the complex challenges that business owners and farmers face. I’ve also been a member of the Federated Farmers and the NZ Deer Farmers Association. Having been on the other side of the fence as it were, I’m now well placed to work with both farmers and business owners to ensure they have the right personal insurance, business protection and farm succession structures in place. I also work closely with a client’s other professional advisers to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Outside of work I enjoy history/genealogy and the great outdoors. I’ve served on the local school Board of Trustees, and am an active member of the Christchurch Sunrise Rotary Club (2002). I also thoroughly enjoy my role as a Justice of the Peace (1988). My wife and I are fortunate to be grandparents; another of life’s diverse roles I fully embrace.

Michelle Hayton, Office Manager

Grad Dip Bus Studies – Personal Financial Planning

Michelle has a wealth of experience in the financial services industry and juggles a diverse role that includes office and client-base management, and adviser support. Outside of work she enjoys family time, cooking, gardening and the great outdoors.

Receptionist, Lauren Miller

Lauren is our cheerful front line person who ably assists the advisers with their paperwork. She has an extensive knowledge in Travel, Fire and General insurance and has been in the role since 2003. When not at the office, Lauren's always horsing around. Yes! She's really fond of horses. Dressage and showing are her interests.

Susanne Ziswiler, Office Administrator

Susanne’s role includes office duties and adviser support. In her spare time Susanne can be found on the tennis court, holidaying with family, or relaxing with a good book.
